Portsmouth – Dorothy Joyner Ferguson, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. She was born in Isle of Wight County to the late Thomas and Sarah Joyner. She was a member of Alliance Church and is predeceased by her first husband, John Douglas Gilliam and her second husband, James Ray Ferguson.

She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Thornton; two sons, Douglas Gilliam and David Ferguson and wife Debbie; a sister, Erma Barnes; seven grandchildren, Theresa Clackum, Danny Thornton, Jr., Dorothy Gilliam, Michael Ferguson, Steven Ferguson, Sammie Winn and Allie Winn; and two great grandchildren, Logan Conery and Britney Clackum.

A funeral service will be held 3 PM Sunday, March 10, at Alliance Church by the Rev. Doug Ellenberger. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Saturday from 7 – 8:30 P.M.
